Push-to-Talk over Cellular uses cellular or Wi-Fi data networks to connect members. Amateur radio uses radio spectrum allocated to the Amateur Radio Service and requires an operator license to transmit in the United States.
PoC is excellent for simple wide-area group conversations. Amateur radio shines when operators want direct radio communication, technical experimentation, antennas, propagation, repeaters, satellites, and public-service activities.
